David D'Or

Celebrating 60 Years of Israel, David D'Or performs for one show only in Melbourne and Adelaide.

David D'Or is a name the music world is becoming more and more familiar with. His ability to fascinate and stun with his remarkably flexible and powerful countertenor voice, while simultaneously conveying a down-to-earth approach and demeanor, is a combination that brings standing ovations all over the world.

His musical career began during his military service as a member of the IDF band 'HaLahaka HaZvait'. After his service, he played numerous roles at Habimah Theatre in Tel Aviv whilst simultaneously studying at the Jerusalem Academy of Music. In 1991, he released his first album, which received rave reviews and immediately went gold. As a result, with his unique singing voice, he was invited by Maestro Zubin Mehta and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra to perform 'Carmen Burana', the first of many collaborations with orchestras from around the world.

His second album, 'Begovah Mishtaneh', released in 1992, included what was to become an iconic Israeli song, 'Tishmor al HaOlam Yeled'. The album was even more successful than its predecessor and became the first of David's platinum discs. Working with other iconic Israeli singers, musicians and composers, including Shlomo Bar, Etti Ankri, the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra, Arik Einstein, Arcadi Duchin, Shlomo Shabbat and Ehud Banai, David D'Or has firmly placed himself at the centre of Israeli music, culminating, in 2002, with 'Singer of the Year; 'Best Vocal Performer' and 'Best Song' at the Israeli Music Awards.

In addition to his many recordings, David has been in huge demand performing live around the globe. In 1994, he was invited to perform by the Pope in Rome, with the concert being broadcast worldwide. He has, since, performed on several other occasions at the Vatican. In December 2006, he was invited by the Thai Royal Family to be part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the reign of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. In addition, he has performed at the Swedish Royal Palace, Trafalgar Square in London, WOMAD UK and Singapore, an enormously successful tour of the USA and numerous performances in Europe.

Following his successes at home with the IPO and Ra'anana Symphony Orchestras (including the gold disc 'David Vey Philarmonit'), David D'Or has performed with the Philharmonic Orchestras of Rome, France, Vienna, London, Baltimore, Sweden, Las Vegas, Turkey, Budapest, Singapore, China and more. Earlier in 2007, his composition 'Hallejuah' was performed in Serbia with the Belgrade Symphony Orchestra and choir, conducted by David Eaton, director of the New York Symphony Orchestra.

David D'Or is a true superstar and his concerts in Melbourne and Adelaide promise to be unforgettable.
